Top Styling Tips From a Leading Melbourne Stylist

As the country begins to once again open up, we look to influential women who play an instrumental role in inspiring our wardrobes for spring. We are thrilled to be working alongside Sally Mackinnon from Styled by Sally, a leading Melbourne styling consultancy. Below we'll discuss Sally’s favourite styles from the Spring/Summer 2021 Collection and how she will be pairing them back with her wardrobe.

GO GREEN WITH THE ADIEL HEEL

Choosing a shoe with a platform will offer the same level of comfort as other styles of heels as platforms elevate the ball of your feet as well as your heels. So, let the 8cm heel not deter to you but inspire you to reach for the stars.

Not only is the ADIEL heeled sandal the most stunning colour of emerald green, it is also very comfortable. It compliments so many colours in my wardrobe including indigo denim and crisp white, not to mention packs a punch with my bright pinks, yellows and matching greens,” says Sally.

The Adiel heel in green suede has been styled in a plethora of ways by Sally, including with additional green (we believe you can never wear too much!) and florals. If toning down this shade of vivid green is more your style, try a pair of denim jeans (bonus points if they have a flare) or tailored black pants for a corporate meets cool look.

PLAYFUL WITH POLKA DOTS IN THE MESTINA HEEL

Would you colour block or print clash in this fun-loving Mascaró heel? According to Sally, you can do both.

New shoes are a great excuse to play dress ups with your wardrobe,” says Sally, with the versatility of the Mestina heel a perfect place to start thanks to its subtle shades and timeless silhouette.

If you’re looking to make your footwear the hero, embrace neutral colours in your outfit that pair back with the nude in the Mestina heel. It will allow the playfulness of the polka dots to sing and craft an utterly timeless look. A wide leg pant flatters the leg when styled with a pointed toe, combining elements of masculinity with femininity.

To lighten the room and have some fun with colour, look to the concept of ‘print clashing’. Sally has perfected the art, bringing together check, floral and polka dot in the most effortless way. The light shades in each print complement those in the shoes, proving that clashing prints will work if there are complementary colours present in both your footwear and clothes.

SALLY’S SALE PICK

If you had your eye on the Paul Green sneaker Sally wore on repeat last season, the good news is that it’s now on sale.

"I love the super soft smooth leather with neutral accents in brown, beige and gold including the contrast rubber sole. Plus, it’s environmentally friendly and biodegradable," says Sally.

In black or white colourways, it can be worn with almost anything. Shop the Pixie sneaker on sale before it's gone.
